The homepage layout is simple but decent, i think you should consider creating a matching skin for your forum though, just to give the overall site that "continuity".
Also as a new site, consider reducing the amount of forum sections you have, maybe combine a few?
So many forums sections can be overwhelming for new members.
BTW i like the banner on the forum; it's much better then the one on the homepage.

Kind of weird to have your portal or cms a different style then the forums... The styles for the forums are honestly.....BLAH! You also have way too many forums for the member base you have.
