Strange Registration Problems

When users try to register, they all seem to get the following error:


That username is already in use. If you are pballer04 and you have forgotten your password, click here.
The string you entered for the image verification did not match what was displayed.
The thing is, none of the usernames they input are taken, and the image strings are correct. I tried it myself several times after being informed of the problem and I can't get it to allow registration either. Can anyone help or give me some advice of what might possibly be wrong?


I have 3.5.1 installed, and the only plugs I'm using are the banner ad plugin, the donation plug in, and the online today plugin. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try re-uploading your register.php file and see if that helps. Otherwise turn off all your plugins and see if the problem persists.

Try creating a fresh style with no parent set, set it as your board default. Now try registering again.

Got it to work, the old owner had banned a TON of short phrases not knowing it would limit signups. I'm happy it turned out to be something simple.
