I think that you should make your design etc more customized :)

EDIT: And your forum_old.gif statusicon is strange, I think maybe you should change it to something visible :)

I like the look.
The small modifications that you did makes the site stand out a bit.

SUGGESTIONS
- Open the forums to the public (viewing). This will help with registrations.
- Move the menu above the "welcome" message.
- Replace all vb default status icons (use icons with black backgrounds). The default vb icons were made for white backgrounds.
