Is it a vBulletin problem or browser compatibility? The profile photo cannot be viewed when using Internet Explorer or other browser that based on IE like AOL, however, it is very OK on FireFox browser.
You can have a comparison by visiting this site => http://www.newsback.com/ On the left side there's "Columns and Opinions" where the submitter's profile photo was shown if you're using FireFox but it cannot be seen when using Internet Explorer.
When you view the source, you can see that the profile pic has the code something like this <img src="http://www.newsback.com/forums/image.php?u=50&type=profile&dateline=" />
