View Full Version : Thinking Of Purchasing....

I have a few questions and I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to post, but this board is all new to me.
I am looking into purchasing Vbulletin. At the present time I have a phpbb Forum. My forum is based on PSP (PaintShop Pro) designers. Free for all of course.
But I want to change this. I want to set up a Members Paid Subscription Forum, because alot of these graphics are designed by members and I'm hoping with paid membership, my members will have the right to put their © on their graphics. Thus having only serious PSP'rs
So questions....
How do I purchase Vbulletin?
How long does it take to setup?
And is it more secure than having a phpbb Forum?
Thank you

Purcahse vB?

Setup? As in install? Or setup as in get it running exactly how you want? Install will be short and the longest process should be uploading the files. The actuall install itself only takes a few min. Getting it setup how you like may tak longer.
Security is a top concern for all forums based scripts, vBulletins track redcord for getting fixes out is under 24 hours, and with vBulletin 3.5.x upgrading is made easy by not always having to re-hack your files via the plugin system.

that first comment about being able to put copyrights on photos as far as i know vbulletin doesnt do that but you can run photopost.com gallery and it has that feature and works directly with vbulletin.

I'm interested in vBulletin too. Currently, I have a board running on SMF and I may switch in the future.

I'm also running a board on phpBB. I'm wondering if and why I should switch to vB. Is it easier to run than phpBB? Easier to install new themes and styles?
Truthfully, I need a real good reason to change from a free board to a rather expensive software.
Anyone?

1. It is not easier, just different. Once you get used to it, you will NEVER look back. Ever.
2. Yes. All themes and styles are done via Db using an XML file. Upload your images, upload the the XML, bammo...
3. Free and commercial has advantages and disadvantages
