my site has sub forums just like this part of this site https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/forumdisplay.php?f=155
how would i get rid of the new thread at the bottum?

Forum Manager > Edit Forum > Act As Forum - Set to no, if you want it as a sub category.

that makes them look like categories instead of forums on the home page.

It's in the forum manager > edit forum

If you set act as forum to no then it will show as a category, but you can disallow new posts.
