Is the Timeslip database going to be done for 3.5 or is someone going to have to do something similar?

Ya, I tried, but seeing as how my PHP skillz really suck, I failed pretty miserably.

I think that whoever does it will have quite a few fans

I would like to have this too. This gets my vote!

I would like to get this going - but have an option for a "view only" mode. Where I might select one of my moderating team to be the Timeslip Admin and he enters and updates all the info and categories.

So he can set up categories, sub categories, timeslip info... it would also show the rules (which he would write out) and the last time the data was updated.

I just dont want people to put false info in and this guy is very particular and wants to keep clean records (as do I).

Then maybe even have those users on this show up some info in their post bit .. like #1 in this class or #4 in that class.

For the most part we are concerned with the top 10 in each class. We dont use it is a database but as a neat tool to see who has the best so far and maybe what to expect.

That'd be cool man, but at the same time having to enter things manually isn't something that's too convenient - if you wanted to do it all manually, that's pretty simple stuff to do with the use of a table....... something like I've done for the Event Listings page on my site (http://www.wolfpackcc.com/forum/events.php) (which is all manually done in order to have full control over what's added) - all you'd have to do is get your members to give you the info.... nothing too fancy.

Keeping in mind that I'm fairly clueless on how to build this, I guess that what I'm saying is, if adding that option in is a pain in the butt, why make things more complicated than it needs to be?

Well members would submit their info and timeslip to prove it (and maybe a link to a video).... but there would be a moderator team just for that function and they have to approve each submission. What I want is someone who can easily fall into a ?class? to look and see the 10 fastest cars on the board that are like his. The board is focused on one car, two motor combinations, and broke up in classes like bone stock, bolt ons, stock cubic inch, big n/a, power-adder?.

sorry (I am Jon_We4 aswell, I must have a differnt login on my laptop ;) )

Ah. Ok. I see what you're saying now. I'm liking the idea of that moderator setup now.

My main purpose for doing it that way is to keep down on bogus entrants. Having a skilled and experianced moderator or two ya know.

I think I can pull off creating something like that - however I can not say that it would be something that would be very quick for me to do myself.

I might have a shot at it when my current project is done, but it wouldn't be for a couple weeks at least.

K guy's, noppid's update for the timeslip database works...I just got it working last night on my website which is running 3.5.2

If i can get his permission, i will share the file.......It is a very easy upgrade, should only take a couple of minute's.

Where'd you get the update for the timeslip database?

hotwheels
01-04-2006, 08:58 PM
I recieved it from Noppid.........He is an awesome guy.

I put the new php file in my forums root folder, made new timeslip template's and bamm it is working like a charm.

I sent him an email to see if he will let me share the file.........worked perfectly, as you can tell from looking at my link.

if you can share that would be great.

when you say templates, what did you do? surely its just a default?

hotwheels

My upgrade didn't pull the timeslip template's, but i rebuilt my site from scratch.......If you did a basic upgrade, and were running the Timeslip data, the template's should be there. Just be sure to check your current style to make sure the templates i named are in there. If not, i will get some zipped up and imported.

This is not my upgrade, all credit goes to those who wrote it. I added the timeslip.php here: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?p=864564#post864564

I will build the templates real quick when i get to work and then all you will have to do is install them and you will be good to go..........Give me about an hour and i should have them up.............doug

I also started a new thread, here: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?p=864582#post864582

zach, that would be great..........i can share with you anything that i have to help people get this up and running for them. I just don't have enough confidence in my skill's to make anything public. But if people agree that what i have been able to get working on my website will work for them, i will gladly try to help get this to the public.....The way i have it set up though, is alot different from the old type, but it works for me and my website member's.......
