I was asked to come here after going to vbulletin.com

I am thinking about conning my boss in to letting the company I work for to let us get vBulletin however he wants to know;

Will it allow members to purchase goods? Our company 'on the side' sells promotional gear - teeshirts etc.

These are real goods, not related to the forum.

Not exactly clear what you are wanting.

vBulletin will let you create a Bulletin Board, a communication system. You can use communication to sell your products.

vBulletin.com told me to come here about code modifications as they can't officially support them?

Instead of purchasing another 3rd party script, we would rather have users be able to purchase things from our website via ?Paypal? (or similar). So an online store code modification or something?

All the modifications offered at vBulletin.org are free of costs. A shop modification that is generating money will probably not be released free of costs (since it is making money for the site owner). Licensed members can post in our Service Request forum where they can request payed jobs. You would probably be contacted by a coder that could make you a custom script to do what you want, or someone that is already have a finished product for this.

Alternative you could try some search engines to find an addition that would fit your needs.

<a href="http://www.thevbgeek.com/" target="_blank">http://www.thevbgeek.com/</a> has athird party commerical shopping cart which integrates nicely with vbulletin but as Marco said, a message board is a good way for your company to provide service and support which will help drive revenue by increasing customer satisfaction and retain customer loyalty.
