Welcome Panel Template Rewrite v2.1

Introduction:

I found Zero Tolerence's Welcome Panel's (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=83124) template dull, and it had a lot of mistakes on my computer, and it shows up on a lot of the sites I visit that have it. It annoyed me so I threw together my own Template for his hack. This is it. I've called it Welcome Panel Template Rewrite, as that's exactly what it is. It's about to go into it's next version, so be on the look out.

This hack will not work if...

You must install this (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=83124) hack (Zero Tolerence's Welcome Panel) before my hack will work. It requires the plugins. Just don't follow the installation instructions for the template.

Installing:

All you have to do to install this hack is upload the .xml file that's attached to your Products Manager and it'll install the template and phrases.

Note: Be sure to chose the correct .xml! It is reccomended that you chose either v1.3 (location within zip: back releases/v1.x) or v2.1.1's XML file (main folder)!

v2.0 Features:
Displays the number of new posts.
It displays the user's avatar & links to the edit avatar page.
Displays your forum stats:
Posts
Threads
Members
The welcome panel is fully phrased.
Displays a link for new posts.
There is a link to edit your profile.
It shows the forum your most active in.
It displays the percent of your posts compared to the total forum posts.
It displays the users posts per day count.
It displays the users number of posts.
The welcome panel is collapsable if the user doesn't want it there.
Completely customizable through a setting group with 13 settings.
Displays users current time (in their time zone)!
Image or Textual links for New Posts, Daily Posts, and Edit Your Profile.
Displays the number of new Private Messages.
Displays the number of new Threads.
Customizable link for forum rules.
Customizable to the latest forum announcement (thread only).
Latest Announcment name is customizable through a setting.
There is an admin editable section for "useful links", HTML required.
Link to forum leaders. (uses vB default phrase so if you change it to something else the welcome panel also changes)
Link to Mark Forums Read. (uses vB default phrase so if you change it to something else the welcome panel also changes)
Link to the announcement forum.
The colors now alternate correctly on your welcome panel.
New! Show Version
New! Welcome Panel Style

I am unable to locate the forumhome_welcome panel. I found the forumhome from the style manager. Where do you find the welcome panel?

Do I replace everything in the forumhome with the one written or do I find the welcome panel within the forumhome template?

I like the link, useful for when i mkae changes to the profiles i can get to mine to see if it works right. Thats just in my opinion.
I am looking at adding in a few other things to it, but i might have to look at the stats area as it will get to big otherwise.

OK I got an xml file that SHOULD install phrases. I'll be updating the template today, if I still have it, if I don't (I just need access to the test vb again, it's gone all haywire with vB.com hackers into the license account and they've used our license and someone reported us as hackers and now we are under investigation and he took it down. :( SO no access for now.)

I have a problem, the % and the messages per day are not working. As exemple, for me, the % is always showing 20% et the posts par day are always at 0.00.

The worst is for any of my members, they have % like 12'000% or 2380% lol that's amazing, fun but very strange...

Is there a way to fix it ?

if you installed his, than installed mine right away without looking you won't notice it. :) or if you didn't install his template it's not noticeable. I was getting a bunch of ? as the serperators and the text was messed up. That's the point.

You have Zero Tolerences Modification installed? If so delete his template, than try it. There's just some differences in the way it's made. Or did you not look at the first one (some differences aren't noticable. Like the whole thing is phrased)

King a question (or maybe a bug).

When a user see the panel, and lets say the forum has some Private Forums, it displays there also for the simple users, that for example there has been 5 news posts. But if he clicks there and the posts have been done in the private forums, he doesnt see anything..

So my main question or request is if we can exclude Private Forums from this counter there or even "show" them only to ppl that have access to these forums and the others see another number:)

1) When a user see the panel, and lets say the forum has some Private Forums, it displays there also for the simple users, that for example there has been 5 news posts. But if he clicks there and the posts have been done in the private forums, he doesnt see anything..
So my main question or request is if we can exclude Private Forums from this counter there or even "show" them only to ppl that have access to these forums and the others see another number - Hope u understand what i mean

2) Is there anyway, we can make some special icons to be shown instead of the text links that are on the panel, i mean the "view new posts", "view posts in the last 24 hours" and "edit your profile" ?

You've installed the hack and now you've got some problems... There are two templates as you probably didn't follow the install instructions correctly. Did you delete the original Welcome Panel template from Zero Tolerence? If not unistall mine real quick, delete his template than reinstall mine.

If u have also problem with Transparent PNG in IE browser, search this forum as there is an addon that fixes this problem and in general it much better to use png images in comparison with gifs or jpgs

Currently, on my site, I have the forum logo, then the nav bar with the default welcome box above it to the right, and then your welcome panel below the navbar. Is there any way to get your welcome panel to replace the sectio directly above the navbar? The section where the default welcome box is to the right?

I attach a screenshot of what I'm talking about. Also, another hack on this forum has almost exactly what I'm looking for, but I like your hack more. This hack has the welcome panel in the right place, though.

Well, if you go to "install products" there's a drop-down menu that says "edit, delete, export, disable, etc." that's what I meant by disable.

Well, what guest panel? The login section? May I suggest reverting all templates you modified?

Oooo, okay. Well then that solves it. I had it showing up originally when they were unregistered. My last one used to show up when they weren't registered and allowed you to log in and had an avatar that said No avatar selected.

I'll have to add it somewhere, but that would be a great addition to this hack -- have it show up when you're not registered :)

I love it though, my members love this new panel!

Is there a way to add a border around the avatar? I could find the following code inside the forumhome_welcomepanel and messed around with it but couldn't get it to work. :(

Can anyone please tell me what I have to do in order to get a border around my avatars? The avatars in my postbit_legacy are all class="tborder" 1px solid and I'd like the ones on the welcome panel to have the same kind of boder. Thanks in advance!
