In the ADMINCP in the Automatic Birthday Thread Options is a link called messagebits
Click on it and change the phrase by pressing ENTER at the end of the line :D

Is there a setting to choose to do this for active members only? I mean, there are always those that register for whatever reasons and never post. I would hate to have b-day threads for peeps that nobody knows. :D

Works great. The members are happy. they missed this from 3.0.x. The only thing I see strange is I am the designated poster but my signature does not show in any post created by this hack. Of course it is still installed and will remain so. A missing signature is not a reason for me to remove a wonderful modification.

Is it possible to modify this hack to create one thread per user?
So if 3 people have a birthday today, then there would be three separate threads?
It is nice as it is, but it is a little impersonal to lump everyone into the one thread.

Yup, I'm having the same problem. When I run the cron manually from the admincp, it shows the entire post correctly. When I just let the cron run on its own, it doesn't put the greettext in the post itself.

You can go into the Scheduled Task Manager within the admincp. You will see the cron job for the Happy Birthday thread, and it is set at a certain hour. Hit edit, and change the hour to what you'd like. You can see if you did it right by seeing what the next scheduled time is for that cron job.

It's a time zone thing. Change the hour to something else. See how it affects the next time the job is to be run. You should quickly see how many hours offset the setting is. Find the right hour to put in there, and you're good.

You need to set the cron to run at a specific time and not at every hour. For instance, if you set your cron to run at hour 23 and minute 55 then the birthday script will run everyday at 11:55 PM
Mine is set at 5 0 * * * which runs it at 12:05 AM

One thing to note. Check your servers time setting. For example, you set it for 12:01 AM est but your server is located in California. there is a 3 hour time difference so in all actuality, your script would really run at 3:01 am est when the server reaches 12:01 in their time zone.

Mike go into your Admin CP >> Scheduled tasks >> Scheduled Task Manager. Find the Automatic Birthday Thread and click on "Run Now".
When you do that are you getting the same error as me? I noticed you too are running 3.5.3, might be a bug with this version.

Those of you who are having difficulties: Do you have any prior versions installed? If so, Uninstall them (especcially if you had this hack installed on 3.0.x .. this will require enabling debug mode and removing the entries from the AdminCP - vBulletin Options list.

there is a hack( atleast i think there is) that when you post a thread it has an option to close it after the first post. i don't see why you can't alter that to do what you need....maybe i am worng and unfortunately i can't remember the hack/mod...sorry i will search and post here if i find it. at anyrate i know i have the option when i post the first post in a thread.
secondly i would like to say that i have this installed along with the birthday style and the birthday style hack....works beautifully!!!

Hi there! First off I want to say thank you for this! What a wonderful idea :D
I have a small problem though, I have double checked to make sure that I have it going to the correct board, and it is still not there. Although it does show up on the main page of my site in the recent threads module, but shows no forum. When I click on the thread it takes me to an error page, obviously because there is no forum. So, how can I make the thread actually show up in the forum I wanted?
Thanks for any help!

I noticed something strange with this hack and my current install of 3.5.3:
I disabled it in my AdminCP for a day... but noticed that it still posted Birthday threads.
I suspect that the Cron/scheduled task kicks in regardless, and since there's no way to "temporarily deactivate" a task (short of editing it's frequency, or deleting the task and adding it back later)... there's no way to temporarily disable this hack from doing it's job.
What I'll do now in the meantime is re-direct the posts to a hidden forum the few times I don't want it posting publicly.
But it would be nice if disabling the plug-in actually turned it off. Or if there was an on/off toggle in the setup/prefs for the add-on itself.
Has anyone else experienced this?

i'm just letting you know that i cannot change the run time for your port. i can edit the settings, but am not able to save it. bascially what's happening is that you don't have the following fields pre-labled so the user has to do them, unlike before. your port works, it's just a bit incomplete. once i fill in the missing info, then everything works.

Running vB 3.6.4 here. I have version 1.0.1 of this installed and it's been running fine (cron job included.) I do get the "No Phrases Matched Your Query" when I click the links to edit the message text... but it looks like I can manually edit it via the bdaygreet phrase. My working setup could be because I've had it installed all the while, back when I was on vB 3.5, and have just updated vB on top of it, but I'm not sure. I just know it works.
I have not yet tried the "updates" provided by others in this thread (outlaw621 (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost.php?p=1047683&postcount=124), picardtux (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost.php?p=1128536&postcount=144)) ... but based on feedback it sounds like they wouldn't add/fix anything, anyway.
I would very much like to see if there's a way to include the birthday person's AVATAR in their birthday thread. I realize this would require the AdminCP setting of "Allow Dynamic URL for [IMG] Tags" to be set to YES, and I currently can do this manually. But with that, how difficult would it be to enhance this to allow the inclusion of avatar's in the birthday posting?

For some strange reason, the title of the thread has started being wrong. when the thread is created, it puts the date in the thread title, but this is different from the dates against each members name.
The dates of the members birthdays is correct but the date on the thread title is a day behind.
For example:
This thread was created today, May 27th at 00:05

Only active Users:
Set this to 'Yes' if you only want active Users to be listed.
