I tried to open www.vbulletin.org as well and the page just kept timing out. I have no idea why it wouldn't open?

we're under attack during the last days (ok more vb.com instead of us, but we're at the same server)
tell those idiots to stop their attacks ;)
(the guys on vb.com are working on the issue)

Do they have a firewall on the server?

yep, of course
but Ddos attacks are hard to block instead of normal "break in" attacks

Maybe they need to get a hardware router/firewall. My router blocks DOS and other kinds of attacks automatically.

well, it's not that easy
have a few thousand computers connect to your router, and it will always have a problem ^^
