Hello!

Here's another one I made for my community which I want to share with you. :o

We have to deal with many users who don't have experience with vBulletin or bulletin boards in general so they often get confused when we move a thread to a better location.

This plugin notifies the user with a PM when we moved one of his threads. This plugin is rather simple but can be extended with ease. However, I won't do it because I don't need it ;)

Known limitations:
This one doesn't affect the inline moderation. I couldn't find a hook for it so I decided to leave that to an expert ;)

Installation:
Just upload the product-file. It will install the plugin and the 2 new phrases for you.
Now you have to edit the freshly installed plugin. It's called Plugin - Notify user about thread move.

Edit those two lines according to your information.

$pmdm->set('fromuserid', X); // replace X with your USERID
$pmdm->set('fromusername', 'Y'); // replace Y with your USERNAME

Both information must be correct, they tell the user who sent this PM.

In my case, I would have to use:

$pmdm->set('fromuserid', 1); // 1 is my ID
$pmdm->set('fromusername', 'MrNase'); // MrNase is my nickname

which sends a message from the user 'MrNase' whose ID is '2' :)

Save the plugin and you are done :)

Have fun with it and feel free to release additions to this product! :)

Please click install or you'll get the flu!!! :mad: (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/vborg_miscactions.php?do=installhack&threadid=100148)

Thanks guys!

Can you confirm it's working for you? I've tested it 20 times but I have so much bad luck that everytime something goes wrong :D

I will confirm in a few hours -- downloaded to zip-disk at work. I based my judgement on the screenshots between the 2 mods. I didn't see the other mod -- but I like this one a lot. I will be happy to confirm or cry for you :>

The other one is better IMHO, the PM u receive shows you with links the destination forum and the thread moved.

BTW, does this hack check if the user has access to the "moved to" forum? I mean, if you move it to Staff Forums, the user doesnt have access, but still receives de PM? In the other hack, it was planned not to do so in a future update.

cheers

As this one only shows the title of the forum the thread was moved to I don't see a reason to include the permission thing :)

When a thread was moved to a hidden forum the user HAS to be notified otherwise he'll be wondering where his thread has gone :D

I was unable to successfully verify this mod.

I installed the product, I used my test account, moved his post, and he received no notification.

I like the idea. The only detail thats missing is specifying what thread was moved.

I mentioned it at vBulletin Webmaster (http://www.vbwebmaster.com/forums/showthread.php?p=9897#post9897) however.

im not complaining here, but 1 hack that does "move/close" notify, would be very nice

why have multiple for something so similar?

joeychgo

this should give you the choice of email to send......

a. We moved to more appropriate forum
b. We removed your thread because it wasnt appropriate for our forum. Please refer to the forum rules.

I think it should also list the thread title so the user knows what thread we're talking about

joeychgo

After a week I can tell you that the thread MUST be specified.

When one of my mods moves a thread, the pm is sent from me. I dont know every thread that is moved, and I get the question back WHY WAS MY THREAD MOVED and I dont even know what thread it moved.

Sorry - I uninstalled this hack. Its a great idea and I appreciate the effort, but its incomplete and causing me more work, and I dont see the author paying attention to this thread. Let me know if you update it.

It's working for me, I don't know why it's isn't working for.

Like COBRAws pointed out, there's another modification that does the same. Feel free to install that one if you don't like this one.

I use 3.6.8 and it works great.

How can I edit it to say WHAT thread I moved of theirs?
I surely don't need tons of PMs asking me what thread I moved LOL

TY!!!

Also, this does not work for mass moving threads unfortunately. Otherwise a good mod.
